Letter to Alan Beauchamp
August 6, 2000

August 6, 2000

Mr. Alan Beauchamp
Director of Grants
Anderson County Courthouse
Clinton, TN 37716

Dear Mr. Beauchamp,

Thank you very much for your unsolicited praise of our domestic violence program which I read in today's Courier-News!

The excellent ladies from my staff whom you praised are

certainly worthy of your kind words. I know it is Connie Capshaw and Lyn Paluga you see in court on a daily basis, but Becky Rodd is their immediate supervisor and she also deserves your praise. The program is indeed going very well, successfully treading the fine line between respecting the presumption of innocence on the one hand and pursuing the chilling specter of domestic violence on the other.

Please find enclosed for your information a letter from this office to the Office of Human Development Services in Washington, D.C., requesting support for a women's shelter in Oak Ridge--dated August 6, 1980! I am proud to show you this proof that we were among the earliest in law enforcement to recognize the problem of domestic violence and to do something about it.

Once again, thank you for recognizing the accomplishments of my prosecutorial staff.

Very truly yours,

James N. Ramsey
District Attorney General
